Many years of time ago
I found myself a good old friend
When we first met I said “hello”
I knew this friendship would not end
Many years of time ago
My friend and I then made a pact.
To be best friends and always so
To never argue or fight back
With our wild and childish manners
Till the end of mid-schools years
Me and him were close as brothers
Until that day he left to go.
He left to go, He left to go
And now ‘bout friendships I now know
Once they seem like never-ending
They’ll be gone with one sudden blow.

one sudden blow
friendship isn't everlasting
Jason used Rhyme in his poem as a poetic device. It helped cohere the poem
1. Summarize the ballad. What impressions or feelings do you have towards it?
ReplyDeleteThis ballad tells the story of the friendship between two guys from the perspective of one of them. They were close as brothers, but his friend left and he learned that friendship isn't everlasting.
2. Analyze the rhyme scheme. What is it and how does it contribute to the ballad?
First stanza- ABAB
2nd- ABAB
3rd- ABAC
4th- AABA
3. Pick three words that are a good word choice. Why?
Brothers: It shows how close the two guys were.
'Bout: This word stuck out to me because it's not something we use often today.
Childish: Shows immaturity of guys, haha.
4. What story is the ballad telling? (What is the message of the poem?)
In most cases, friendship is bound to be broken in the future. It says in the poem that at first they had an unbreakable bond, but he had to leave, so their friendship was now wasted away. It liked the message of the poem. It's true to some extent; but not always.
5. What poetic devices (figures of speech) did the poet use? Why?
I don't really see any.
Excellent!! The third stanza seems a bit off. So does the very last line. What better word choice can you use?
